IC-Link A Kyocera utility that enables the creation and management of device based solutions consisting of forms, fonts and applications.
Overview
IC-Link is a form and application management tool that works with the PRESCRIBE language to enable users to create programs that expand the functionality of a printer or MFP. IC-Link is used to develop custom workflows, forms and applications that are saved on the printer or MFP. By using IC-Link to create and manage your forms and workflow applications, you can reduce waste by no longer stocking pre-printed forms, decrease network bandwidth requirements by storing forms on the printer or MFP, and create custom applications that configure your printer or MFP to meet your department’s printing needs.
PRESCRIBE is Kyocera’s native printer language that provides unprecedented versatility by offering a suite of free tools that can be used to create forms as well as applications that address a wide variety of business needs.
Benefits
- Save money and improve productivity by replacing your pre-printed forms with device resident forms
Reduce costs and decrease network bandwidth requirements by creating PRESCRIBE forms that are stored on your printer or MFP. This eliminates the need for purchasing and storing pre-printed forms while allowing for periodic form modifications. Network bandwidth requirements are also reduced by only sending data to the printer or MFP.
- Use a PRESCRIBE Application Program Interface (API) to customize a printer or MFP to meet your business needs
When replacing legacy printers or MFP’s, PRESCRIBE and IC-Link can be used to eliminate the cost and bother of modifying mainframe applications. PRESCRIBE is used to modify data from mainframe applications without changing the existing code. An API is installed on the printer or MFP that automatically examines the data stream from the host system and substitutes PRESCRIBE code for the legacy code that is sent by the application. This will reduce development costs by eliminating the time and resources needed to modify a legacy application to meet the requirements of new output devices.
- Print documents that require special fonts or barcodes
There are many fonts that are not resident on today’s printers or MFP’s. Specialized fonts like Maxicode, which is a commonly used barcode font for shipping forms, can be downloaded to the device using IC-Link and used like a standard font. Using IC-Link to download these non-resident fonts and barcodes saves money by eliminating the need for expensive custom printers or costly upgrades to your existing devices.
Supported Models
PRESCRIBE is standard on most Kyocera Printers and MFPs.
